Surah 85
Al-Buruj The Constellations

-
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
وَٱلسَّمَآءِ ذَاتِ ٱلْبُرُوجِ ١
85:1 By the heaven, holding mansions of the stars,
-
وَٱلْيَوْمِ ٱلْمَوْعُودِ ٢
85:2 And by the Promised Day.
-
وَشَاهِدٍ وَمَشْهُودٍ ٣
85:3 And by the witness and that whereunto he beareth testimony,
-
قُتِلَ أَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْأُخْدُودِ ٤
85:4 (Self-)destroyed were the owners of the ditch
-
ٱلنَّارِ ذَاتِ ٱلْوَقُودِ ٥
85:5 Of the fuel-fed fire,
-
إِذْ هُمْ عَلَيْهَا قُعُودٌ ٦
85:6 When they sat by it,
-
وَهُمْ عَلَىٰ مَا يَفْعَلُونَ بِٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ شُهُودٌ ٧
85:7 And were themselves the witnesses of what they did to the believers.
-
وَمَا نَقَمُوا۟ مِنْهُمْ إِلَّآ أَن يُؤْمِنُوا۟ بِٱللَّهِ ٱلْعَزِيزِ ٱلْحَمِيدِ ٨
85:8 They had naught against them save that they believed in Allah, the Mighty, the Owner of Praise,
-
ٱلَّذِى لَهُۥ مُلْكُ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۚ وَٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ شَهِيدٌ ٩
85:9 Him unto Whom belongeth the Sovereignty of the heavens and the earth; and Allah is of all things the Witness.
-
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ فَتَنُوا۟ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَٱلْمُؤْمِنَـٰتِ ثُمَّ لَمْ يَتُوبُوا۟ فَلَهُمْ عَذَابُ جَهَنَّمَ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابُ ٱلْحَرِيقِ ١٠
85:10 Lo! they who persecute believing men and believing women and repent not, theirs verily will be the doom of hell, and theirs the doom of burning.
-
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ لَهُمْ جَنَّـٰتٌ تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهَا ٱلْأَنْهَـٰرُ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ ٱلْفَوْزُ ٱلْكَبِيرُ ١١
85:11 Lo! those who believe and do good works, theirs will be Gardens underneath which rivers flow. That is the Great Success.
-
إِنَّ بَطْشَ رَبِّكَ لَشَدِيدٌ ١٢
85:12 Lo! the punishment of thy Lord is stern.
-
إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ يُبْدِئُ وَيُعِيدُ ١٣
85:13 Lo! He it is Who produceth, then reproduceth,
-
وَهُوَ ٱلْغَفُورُ ٱلْوَدُودُ ١٤
85:14 And He is the Forgiving, the Loving,
-
ذُو ٱلْعَرْشِ ٱلْمَجِيدُ ١٥
85:15 Lord of the Throne of Glory,
-
فَعَّالٌ لِّمَا يُرِيدُ ١٦
85:16 Doer of what He will.
-
هَلْ أَتَىٰكَ حَدِيثُ ٱلْجُنُودِ ١٧
85:17 Hath there come unto thee the story of the hosts
-
فِرْعَوْنَ وَثَمُودَ ١٨
85:18 Of Pharaoh and (the tribe of) Thamud?
-
بَلِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ فِى تَكْذِيبٍ ١٩
85:19 Nay, but those who disbelieve live in denial
-
وَٱللَّهُ مِن وَرَآئِهِم مُّحِيطٌۢ ٢٠
85:20 And Allah, all unseen, surroundeth them.
-
بَلْ هُوَ قُرْءَانٌ مَّجِيدٌ ٢١
85:21 Nay, but it is a glorious Qur'an.
-
فِى لَوْحٍ مَّحْفُوظٍۭ ٢٢
85:22 On a guarded tablet.
